The logo for the Reckless Angels is one wing – again, an accident rather than a deliberate decision, or, at least a subconscious rather than a conscious nod to my situation. However, it makes me smile now, especially when I am a bit sore and the arm is in a sling or my wrist is in the brace – I have that one wing.

I love my life and I cherish the fact I

realised, before it was too late, how important it was to find a way to follow my dreams and I understand completely how support from friends and family have been a key factor in realising them.

My advice to anyone with a chronic pain problem is to try to get onto a NHS pain management course because understanding how pain affects you as an individual is a vital way to learn to cope with it. Acupuncture is available on the NHS through physiotherapy departments and is a very good way of managing pain, as are anti- inflammatories when used correctly. It’s also very important to remember there will always be good days and bad days and so a really helpful philosophy is to do what you can when you can.

I believe that by accepting my limitations, I am no longer quite so limited by them.
