Ron Watts and David Israel gave a task force report on the structure of Missouri United Methodist Camping and Retreat Ministries (MUMCRM). Te purpose of the task force was to review the structure and supporting incorporation documents of MUMCRM. Te recommendations from the task force included a new structure with a 15 member advisory council and a smaller board of trustees. All of the positions on this board will be nominated and elected by the Annual Conference. Te new structure brings MUMCRM into closer alignment with the conference staff and structure.


Audrey Phelps, VIM Coordinator, gave an update of the mission response to the Haiti earthquake. Within 48 hours Festival of Sharing health kits were sent. $900,000 in contributions has been received from Missouri churches. Teams will be going to work on the rebuilding effort.


Franklin Walker, Creative Ministries Team Chair, recommended approval of 2011 Conference Advance Specials listed on page B68: Habit for Humanity, Heifer International, Missouri Disaster Response, Missouri Volunteers In Missions (VIM) Coordinator, Mozambique Initiative Coordinator, Prison PATCH, VIM Projects, PET, Wardrobe Hayti and Baby Grace. MOTION PASSED.


Franklin Walker announced the unanimous team vote for Jeanne Hart to receive the Robert & Martha Marble Mission Award.


Max Marble, Mission, Service, and Justice Team Director, announced the Online Advance Special Giving Award from the General Board of Global Ministries. In 2009, the Missouri Conference was the #1 giver in the Jurisdictional Conference; #3 in the whole denomination.


Michele Sue Shumake-Keller, Values Team Chair, presented the Unity Award to David Bennett for spearheading racial dialogue among ethnic groups to bring about reconciliation.


Margie Briggs, Social Justice Team Chair, presented the Social Justice Team Award to Kelly Sykes for working to rid the world of unfair practices through the Fair Trade Market.


Tom Mitchell, Mozambique Initiative Team Chair and Carol Creamer, Coordinator, gave the team report on Transforming our Church Covenant Partnerships on page C12. Te new covenant encourages self-sustainability, lay leadership training and the gradual reduction of salary grants for pastoral support. Salvador Batar Catine, guest, was introduced.
