Tese are the Minutes of the Eighth Regular Session of the Missouri Annual Conference, held in Springfield, Missouri, at the Springfield Expo Center from Friday, June 4 through Monday, June 7, 2010. Bishop Robert C. Schnase presiding.


Friday, June 4 – Opening Session


Bishop Schnase called the Business Session to order at 11:38 a.m. and introduced those at the head table: Brian Hammons, Lay Leader; Dala Dunn, Executive Assistant to the Bishop; Londia Granger Wright, Conference Secretary; Lisa McLaughlin and Larry Tucker, Parliamentarians.


Londia Granger Wright made a motion to establish the bar as those who are seated at tables in the plenary area and on stage. MOTION PASSED.


Jim Barnett, Sessions Committee Chair, made a motion to accept the Sessions Committee Standing Rules on Workbook page B2. MOTION PASSED.


Betsy Vicente, Nominations Committee Chair, presented the Nominations Report on pages B3-B6 plus Addendum for review, and explained the nominations process.


Karen Taylor, Rules and Procedures Committee Chair, presented the Standing Rules Report on pages B34-B47. She noted one item for change on page B40 -- to delete Rule 150.45.


Michele Sue Shumake-Keller, Values Team Chair, announced that one of the main roles of the team is to help the conference practice inclusiveness and diversity in its deliberations.


Bishop Schnase pointed to the carving by Kevin Fischer hanging above the stage. Te artist has been involved with the Disaster Team and has collected pieces of wood from disaster areas to make the extraordinary giſt, “Christ in the Debris.”


Sarah Wilke, Upper Room Publisher, presented a video on the history of the publication.


Bishop Schnase introduced guests Bishop Fritz and Etta Mae Mutti and Jewell Moncure. He announced the regrets of Ruth Handy and Bishop Monk Bryan, and the death of Bishop Eugene Frank. Oklahoma Bishop Robert Hayes and his wife, Delilah, will be present for ordination service. Bishop Sharon Brown-Christopher invited everyone to Tables of Grace. Bishop Schnase introduced his family: spouse Esther, and sons Karl and Paul.


Announcements. Margaret Banks, Heartland Central District Lay Leader, led prayer for lunch.
