What will a swim spa cost me? The range of swim spas on the market has grown considerably over the last few years, so it really depends on what you choose. The simple answer is anything between £12,000 and £30,000. An entry level swim spa which provides powerful jets and a safe, secure swimming environment will cost around the £12,000 mark with installation costs on top.
After that it depends on how elaborate and ‘high tec’ you want your swim spa to be – and that depends on things like lighting, the number of swim jets, the seating area at the end of the pool and so on. By adding the extras the more sophisticated models could take the price up to the £20,000 range. For swim spas which come with a separate hot tub area and dual temperature controls allowing the water temperature to be different between the swimming and non-swimming areas then top of the range models could cost you up to £30,000.
How can I see one and can I try it out? Most hot tub dealers throughout the country now display swim spas in their stores. If you’d like to try a swim spa out and test your swimming against the current they throw out, then ask them for a full swimming test. It’s a very reasonable request and most dealers will agree.

What about maintenance / upkeep? The important points on upkeep tend to relate to the quality and purity of the water and a good filtration system. All swim spas will come with a guarantee and the dealer will advise how to keep high quality water in the spa. Again the trade association BISHTA will help on specific problems.
