or many people a swimming pool is an expensive option. The chances are as much as they would like one, they haven’t the money or the room. So one option which is increasingly popular is above-ground designs, traditionally made from wood although there are steel options. Not only are they a more affordable choice, pools of this nature are ideal for smaller gardens. Many can also be installed by the homeowner themselves. What’s more, the addition of a simple counter-current device can turn what is a relatively compact pool into a spacious swimming area. There’s a wide price range available from a few
hundred pounds from a DIY kit pool; to £2,500 for a good quality, free standing pool right up to £12,000 and the more luxurious options which have extras added. Above-ground swimming pools are in fact often known as ‘starter’ pools, and come in a variety of sizes, with models ranging from 10ft to over 30ft in diameter. They come in three basic shapes: rectangular, round and oval. Increasingly the high quality wooden pools are not exclusive above-ground now with more people opting to fit them in decking or putting the classic wooden frames in the ground. As free standing however they are ideal for owners who don’t want to dig up the back garden. Moreover, above-ground pools take a lesser time to install. Depending on the location you may not need a special foundation for your pool. Most of the above-ground pools can be constructed using pre-fabricated kits. If they are not able to give you this advice or supply you with the relevant water treatment products it is probably your best bet to bid them a cheerful goodbye and find someone who can. There are many above-ground pools to choose
from and most are manufactured by well known and established names whose products can easily be found on sale through swimming pool retailers across the country.
