bbiati Casino Equipment Company was found by Giovanni Abbiati in 1976, in Turin Italy, when, after many years in the military as an officer in the Criminal Investigation Department in
the Carabinieri forces, visiting Venice, to take photographs of the world famous Carnival masks, he passed by Cà Vendramin Callergi Palace. It was built 5 centuries ago and it is currently where the historical and unique Venice Casino is. Giovanni had never visited a Casino before and this visit was to change his life.
He was particularly attracted by the roulette wheel which was only French style at that time. He was fascinated by the complexity of the mechanical mechanism and elaborate materials used and so he immediately felt the desire to manufacture a French Roulette Wheel. After 4 years of research in order to present a sophisticated product in the market, he succeeded in reaching his aim and delivered the first Abbiati French Roulette Wheel to the Italian Casino St. Vincent.
The first Abbiati French Roulette Wheel was in precious blond palissandro Indian rigatino wood, the numbers were in ivory with ebony and rose wood intarsia and the rotating part in marine bronze obtained through fusion. To manufacture his first wheel, Giovanni had used the most precise mechanical tolerances and machinery in order to ensure the Wheel was manufactured to
the highest standards and security and a result of it this French Wheel is still in operation as a testimonial to the high Abbiati Quality.
Shortly after sales to Casinos in Venice, Sanremo and Campione took place and the year after Abbiati began to export also into other European countries. Giorgio Abbiati, after finishing his studies, had joined the Company, although during his university years Giorgio had assisted Giovanni in the office and on overseas trips, where he had developed his knowledge towards the products and the clients requirements.
Today Abbiati offers a full turnkey solution, with the development of electronic and informatics systems. The Company also holds various patents, including new and innovative laser system incorporated within Abbiati Roulette Wheels, that allows the continuous and on-line monitoring in real time, the sequence of the winning numbers and the rotation speed and direction of the roulette cylinder and ball. This technology is supported by an independent levelling system incorporating an electronic levelling pendulum, which is connected to the security
offices in order to verify that the wheel has not been subjected to any movement.
Since the first day of the Company’s establishment, Abbiati name stands as a witness for Italian quality and design.
