contracts and projects Saucy capsules

Viscose Closures of Crawley have provided shrink capsules to a young UK company, Rico Picante, which has launched a range of chilli sauces. Rico Picante is the brainchild of a brother and sister who grew up in Peru and have recreated the fragrant and fruity flavours of Peru, using four varieties of Peruvian chillies and a family recipe which has been handed down over generations. Viscose Closures have supplied plain matt blank shrink capsules with gold tear tab, for use across the range of chilli sauces. According to Allison Ward at Rico Picante, they decided to use capsules both to improve the look of the product and to reassure customers that the bottles had not been tampered with. ‘We are very happy with the finished look,’ confirmed Alison, ‘and with the service provided by Viscose Closures.’ For more information call 01293 519251 or visit www.viscose.co.uk.

Improved

potato handling with UPM

The Co Operative Farms recently decided to improve the efficiency of their potato handling system by modifying existing conveyors to incorporate two 180 degree bends supplied by UPM Conveyors. The conveyers are all plastic Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE), which means they meet all of the new regulations for food contact approval. Simon Wood, Engineering Manager of Co Operative Farms, commented that: “UPM Conveyors clearly take pride in their workmanship in producing such excellent quality products, which shows they care about their customers needs and that reflects on the reaction from their customers operators. They therefore feel appreciated, so we will definitely use UPM

“ENJOY! SAUCES”

Enjoy! required a new look for its entire range of delicious and appetizing Indian, Chinese and Traditional sauces and turned to of packaging film specialists National Flexible for help and advice. With a range of six delicious sauces, each requiring its own individual packaging to stand out to the customer on the shelf, Enjoy! were facing a potentially hefty investment in order to set up the printing plates for the new style packaging.

However, thanks to the help of some clever work from National Flexible’s experienced in-house print team, they were able to reproduce Enjoy! artwork whilst keeping set up costs to a minimum – saving thousands in origination charges. The end result is a great range of single serve sauces that are printed in visual eye-catching colours. For more information call 01274 685566 or visit www.nxldesign.co.uk.

again in the future and will recommend them to our other divisions." UPM were able to enhance the design of the UHMWPE belt conveyors by incorporating a channel top and bottom in the conveyor side wall. This means the belt locates and is guided, eliminating the need to track or tension the belt. For more information call 01753 548801, email royfupm.co.uk or visit www.upmconveyors.co.uk.
