easyFairs Shows attract packed crowds

easyFairs PACKAGING at the NEC was a huge success yet again this year, as brand managers, packaging technologists and retailers descended on Birmingham’s NEC for the quartet of packaging shows – PACKAGING INNOVATIONS, PACKTECH, ECOPACK and CONTRACT PACK. The event, held on 16 & 17 February, attracted 4,409 unique visitor/buyers to Birmingham’s NEC - a rise of nearly 5% on last year. With an additional 1,189 packaging professionals in the halls manning their stands, this time-and-cost- effective platform is a proven place for business, confirmed by the record rebooking rate. A huge

71% of exhibitors rebooked on-site for the 2012 event, which takes place on 29 February & 1 March 2012. easyFairs Managing Director Matt Benyon comments: “The 2011 Packaging event was one of busiest yet - we always measure success on the quality and number of visitors and these four shows undoubtedly brought in both. Over the two days we attracted major brands and retailers creating fantastic opportunities for our exhibitors. However, the true measure is in the number of satisfied exhibitors and we are delighted that more than 70% have already signed contracts to exhibit again next year.” Exhibitor Peter Wood, Sales Director at CFN Packaging, said: “Though last year was good, this year was even better with a lot of positive enquiries from many new contacts which will

more than pay for the cost of us attending easyFairs® ECOPACK - so much so that we have booked for 2012 for an even better year!” The show included a comprehensive ‘free to attend’ learnShopTM seminar programme, with speakers from PepsiCo, Unilever, WRAP and The Packaging Federation. At the end of the first day The BIG Packaging debate took place discussing whether Packaging was seen as a public servant or public enemy, with the question of consumer responsibility topping the agenda. Matt Benyon concludes: “The NEC is our flagship packaging show and year on year it just keeps getting better and better. We’ll continue to represent the wider industry and add new show features to keep the buzz alive, as after all where would our products be without packaging.”
