FIRST IMPRESSIONS First Impressions Free Spirit

With spring in the air, I must admit that I really would rather go outside and sit on a park bench or take a walk that be inside working. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job or should I say jobs. There’s always a challenge, always something new and intriguing, but some times it would just be nice to “call in”.

The New Age/Metaphysical community seems to be populated with an inordinate percentage of people who just want to “take it as it comes”, “Leave myself open for the possibilities”. Often it seems that some of this group resists making any plans at all.

In the perfect world there’s a balance although many of us seem to gravitate to one pole or the other. There are those, yes I admit that I’m one, who work from the time they wake up until the time they go to sleep with little time left over for recreation or family. Perhaps it’s ingrained in the old puritanical teachings that were drilled into us when we were children. “Early to bed, early to rise makes a (wo)man healthy wealthy and wise.” Boy is that a bunch of hooey if ever I’ve heard any.

So just where is the perfect balance between freedom and responsibility? Where does the free spirit lifestyle turn into irresponsibility? Where does the work ethic turn into a workaholic problem?

I really wish that I had the answer to that one. I suppose that if we look at our lives and ask ourselves some basic questions we could sort it out.

1. Do I take care of myself and my family without

being a martyr? This includes things like seeing to it that if i have children or elderly parents that their basic needs are met, my bills are paid, and I spend quality time with these individuals and my mate or partner. Do I set time aside to attend important family functions?

2. Do I fulfill my responsibilities at work and in my

social/spiritual circle? Do I show up for my job for the appointed hours ready to fulfill my job requirements? Do I call out often or let somebody else take up the slack for my “personal day”? Do I take vacation days when half the department is out with flu because I owe it to myself or do I suffer through when there is no reason to give up vacation days?

3. If I make a date or set an appointment do keep it

to my detriment or do I call to cancel well in advance, or do I just “blow it off”.

These are just a few of the questions that bear asking as Saturn moves over my Neptune in my natal chart. Saturn is the stern taskmaster, Neptune is the free spirit. If you are having Saturn/Neptune contacts in your own chart then you may be asking yourself some of these ques- tions. For now, it’s 8:45 PM and I think I’ll pack up this magazine for the month & go do something Neptunian.
