Sometimes, nursing homes or retirement centers seem like the only option for care. Jim Piccione, Director, Visiting Angels of Groton, had just that experience when he watched his grandfather quickly deteriorate after being placed in a nursing home. After 23 years of experience caring for people, Jim decided it was time for another option.

Visiting Angels’ non-medical home care services

allow people to maintain the independence of their daily routines in familiar surroundings. Visiting Angels helps you avoid the emotional trauma of leaving your cherished home. Believing that you and your family should have a choice about where and how to live and who will provide care, Jim says, “Our goal is to keep people at home.” Visiting Angels knows it isn’t easy to make the decision to invite a caregiver into your home to provide home care. That’s why their personalized screening system is designed to maximize your peace of mind. You have the opportunity to interview any caregiver they refer. You choose the caregiver that is right for you, something that is uniquely different from other living assistance agencies in Southeastern CT. Visiting Angels also believes character counts, so you are ensured a caregiver that truly cares. Because Visiting Angels is a non-medical agency and not a nursing agency, they will not dictate your schedule. Your schedule is your schedule! It is Visiting Angels job to adjust to your needs and keep you comfortable in your home. You deserve to have a caregiver who is experienced in providing the individualized services that your situation requires. Visiting Angels caregivers have a strong employment history caring for seniors and have references from reliable sources, such as previous clients, agencies, healthcare institutions, religious and volunteer organizations. Visiting Angels also runs a comprehensive background screening on each caregiver. Call Visiting Angels at 860.446.CARE (2273) for a free consultation!

alentine’s Day naturally brings thoughts of hearts,

fl owers, sweetness and love. But did you know that it also falls during American Heart Month? A perfect time to start taking care of your heart and the hearts of the ones you love. You might think that a heart-healthy diet is boring or fl avorless. Actually, eating for your heart can add a lot of fl avor, and some of it may come from surprising sources — such as watermelon. Eating watermelon can help maintain cardiovascular health.
