John Boyd Dunlop, b. February 5, 1840 d. October 23, 1921 Inventor. He developed the first practical pneumatics tyre first used for a tricycle, later modified for an automobile.


Thomas Andrews, Jr (Who ?) b. Feb. 7, 1873 d. Apr. 15, 1912 Designer of the Titanic, Builder and Victim. Born in Northern Ireland the son of Right Hon. Thomas Andrews and Eliza (Pirrie), nephew of Lord Pirrie, principal owner of Harland and Wolff, the builders of Titanic. Entering at age 16 as premium apprentice, he gradually worked his way up to became managing director of H&W in charge of designing, and was familiar with every detail of the construction of Titanic. After the collision with the iceberg, Andrews broke the news to Captain Smith that in view of the damage suffered, he did not expect the ship to stay afloat for more than two hours. His last moments were spent encouraging passengers to wear their lifebelts and to make their way to the boats. He was last seen staring into space by the painting in the first class smoking room, having removed his life belt.

Ernest Henry Shackleton b. Feb. 15, 1874 d. Jan. 5, 1922 Explorer. On an exploration voyage to Antarctica in 1916, his ship became trapped by ice. On April 24th, he set off with five sailors from Elephant Island across 800 miles of the world's stormiest seas to seek help. After 17 days, Shackleton and his men reached South Georgia. They crossed the island's mountainous spine to a whaling station, steamed back to Elephant Island in a borrowed boat and, in the end, not one crewman died. He died on South Georgia of a heart attack, which was attributed to his robust life style.


Harold Macmillan, b. February 10, 1894 d. December 29, 1986 British Prime Minister From 1957 to 1963.


Tommy Edwards, b. February 17, 1922 d. October 22, 1969 Rock, R&B Vocalist, pianist, composer. His many songs include "It's All In The Game,"


Graham Hill, b. February 15, 1929 d. November 29, 1975 Auto Race Car Driver. He was a Formula 1 racing champion, having won championships in 1962 and 1968. He died when the plane he was piloting crashed in fog in Arkley, Hertfordshire, England. His son Damon Hill is also a noted racing driver.


Gene Vincent Original name: Vincent Eugene Craddock B. Feb. 11, 1935 d. Oct. 12, 1971 Singer. He and his band recorded "Be-Bop-A-Lula", "Race With The Devil" and "I Sure Miss You."


Gene Pitney b. Feb. 17, 1940 d. Apr. 5, 2006 Best remembered for his songs,' Twenty Four Hours From Tulsa,' 'I'm Gonna be Strong,' and 'The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.' In 1989, he hit the UK number one slot with a recording of, 'Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart,' a remake of one of his 1960s singles he did with singer Marc Almond. He passed away in his bed in the executive suite at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff, where he had just performed a concert hours before.
