Padiham Football Club Having had no luck in finding any of the original five hundred shares issued in Padiham Football Club one hundred years ago, the clubs Management Committee have now delved back even further into the clubs history file and have turned their attention into trying to persuade Scottish Premier League side Heart of Midlothian Football Club to fulfil a fixture they failed to take part in against Padiham back in the 1885-86 season. The game in question was in fact an FA Cup 1st Round fixture at Padiham which the Scottish Club never showed up for, and as it is the 125th anniversary of the game "that never was" the Storks are trying to encourage Hearts to send a team down to play Padiham during this years Sports Week to mark the occasion. Padiham Football Club are also featured in a new book which has just been published all about non-league football grounds in Lancashire. The Storks take up two pages of this fascinating publication written by Terry Gorman with further details available by emailing terry@gormans.org.uk. Padiham Football Clubs home games at the Arbories in February include Maine Road on Saturday 12th and Stone on Saturday 19th, kick-off times 3.00 p.m. Also being staged at the Arbories in February is one of this seasons Lancashire Amateur Cup semi-finals which takes place on Tuesday 15th, kick-off 7.30 p.m. For further information on Padiham Football Club, contact: Alan Smith on 07775717698.
