Cowboys Stadium, home to the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys,
has won the 2009 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achieve- mentAward from the Texas Section of theAmerican Society ofCivil Engineers (ASCE).The awardwas presentedApril 12 inAustin,TX. Walter PMoore served as lead structural engineer for the
project. The monumental $1.15 billion, 80,000-seat, 3 million-
square-foot, retractable roof superstructure established at least three structural engineering world records: the longest single- span roof structure; the largest center-hung HD video display board; and the largest operable glass doors. Also, the roof’s mechanization system is the first application of a rack-and- pinion retractable roof drive systemin NorthAmerica and the largest and steepest such roof application in the world. Federal Signal to FormNew Division: Federal Signal Technologies Group
Federal Signal Corp., a leader in environmental, safety
and transportation solutions, is forming a new division, Fed- eral Signal Technologies Group (FSTech), to be focused on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) solutions.
