Christopher’s Computers will hold a grand opening of its new loca-
tion from 2 pm to 5 pm on Tuesday (Oct. 26) at the new store located at 549 Merrimon Avenue on the corner of Merrimon and Farrwood. Catered refreshments from Captured Cravings and live music from
Clearwater Connection will be available. A ribbon cutting will be held at 4:30 pm. Prize drawings will follow. Christopher’s Computers is a family owned and operated computer

Pop Warner games at NBHS Te northwest teams of Pop Warner are now in entering their fifth
week of football games and will play Saturday (Oct. 23) at North Buncombe High School. Te Tiny Mite Panthers have worked hard and have continued to
show improvements with their games. Te Jr. Pee Wee Raiders are now 2-2 and the Jr. Pee Wee Panthers

Weaverville - Emily Jo Bishop
West, age 86, of Weaverville died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010. Jo was born Dec. 11, 1923, the
eldest child of the late Lonnie Calvin Bishop and Mary Morine Murray Bishop in the Bishopville Community of Robertson County, Texas. She grew up a few miles away in the town of Hearne. Dur- ing World War II she met her hus- band, Glen West, Jr., who was in the U.S. Army stationed at Camp Hearne. They were married on Sunday, March 26, 1944. After Glen’s discharge from service they moved back to his home town, Weaverville. In the coming years Jo would assist Glen in the family businesses, West Funeral Home and West Tourist Court. She was a member of Weav-
erville United Methodist Church, the Grace Waugh Circle and had previously served on the Official Board, the Board of Trustees, served as chairman of the Par- sonage Committee and was a member of the Pastor-Parish Re- lations Board. She was a charter member of the official board of the Dry Ridge Museum and a former member of the Woodland Hills Garden Club. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Glen West, Jr. who died in 1979, as well as an infant brother, L.C. Murray Bishop, sis- ter, Mary Seelye and brother, Webb Bishop. Surviving are her son, Gary C.
West and wife Vicki of Weaverville; daughters, Glenda Huneycutt of Albemarle and Patricia Crawford of Hickory. Also surviving are her grandchildren and great grand- children, Chris Huneycutt of Al-

25, 1922, in Buncombe County. She lived in Virginia before mov- ing back to Buncombe County in 1990. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Min- nie DeBruhl Davis; husband, Ker- mit Gentry who died in 1997; and seven siblings. Surviving are her caregiver and
niece, Judy Dillingham and her husband Hoyte of Barnardsville, as well as several additional niec- es and nephews. Mrs. Gentry’s funeral service

Buford McCurry Neal Buford McCurry Neal peace-
fully passed away on Oct. 17, 2010. Buford was born in Tipton Hill, NC and was the son of Ber- tha McCurry Smith and James Neal. Raised by his grandparents until graduation, he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and later attended East Tennessee State University. Buford and his wife, Mildred, were the owners of the Reems Creek Exxon for many years until retirement. He is preceded in death by his
wife, Mildred Fowler Neal, his par- ents, and brothers, Elwood and Billy Smith. Buford will be greatly missed by his nieces and neph- ews, sister, Jeanette Roland, and brother, Duane Smith of Burns- ville and Dee Smith of Asheville. The family greeted friends from
