vast grass fields. Other patients were placed in rooms with windows that looked out onto a large brick wall. Patients in rooms with beautiful views required half as much pain and heal- ing medicine as those in rooms with a brick wall view; in addition, they were all released at least a day earlier. Dr. Sternberg goes on to explain that viewing a beautiful scene, listening to great music, eating a delicious meal, smelling a familiar scent, or exciting our senses in other ways creates en-
dorphins in our brain. These endor- phins boost our immune and nervous systems and play a large role in our recovery. The movie concluded with a roundtable discussion. Dr. Sternberg was joined by Andrew Weil and Victoria Maizes to discuss integrative medicine, healing techniques, and to answer questions from the audience. Weil, an integrative medicine pioneer and best-selling author, is the founder of the Arizona Center for Integrative
Medicine at the University of Arizona and was named one of the 25 most influential people in 1997 by Time Magazine. Maizes, Executive Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, has been credited with turning the integrative program into one of the foremost in the country and she has been named one of the world’s 25 intellectual optimists by ODE Magazine. The roundtable discussion be- tween these three hosts became lively, as they compared notes, debated ho- listic and alternative healings, shared their thoughts on the documentary, and brought a bit of comic relief with their interplay. The discussion was a perfect end to the enlightening eve- ning, as guests filing out of the theatre were overheard discussing exciting new concepts that the evening had brought to them.
