Serving Optimal Health in a Social Environment by Lily Viola
D
r. Brent Agin, a physician who specializes in wellness and anti-aging med- icine, has been interested in nutrition his entire life. “I’ve always been into playing sports and staying in shape, and I found that as I aged, I put more emphasis on daily activities that helped me maintain my physical strength, muscle tone and overall health,” says Agin, whose years of medical practice affirmed his belief that preventive care, nutrition, weight loss and hormone optimization are major aspects of wellness. When the author of Healthy Aging for Dummies and Superfoods for Dum-
mies shifted his focus from treating patients who were sick to keeping them well, he turned to the benefits of intravenous and injection vitamin therapies, as well as hormone optimization, nutrition and fitness training. His patients responded with more energy, increased mental alertness and focus, increased metabolism and weight loss. They also looked and felt younger and reduced their preventable health risks.
Rather than limiting his knowledge and experience to his practice, Agin cre- ated a unique venue for delivering his prescriptions for prevention and optimal health to hundreds of individuals: Trim Wellness Café. The concept combines the ambiance of a chic New York coffeehouse with a trendy bookstore, as well as ap- plying principles of upscale spas.
“Southwest Florida’s first wellness café offers real nutrition for the body via intravenous and intramuscular therapies, with 100 percent absorption,” Agin ex- plains. “Every cell in a client’s body is enjoying a complete meal, and tissues are being completely saturated and benefiting from bioavailability, which increases tissue serum levels for optimal health.” Meanwhile, clients can enjoy refreshments and relaxing in cushy recliners, inhaling oxygen treatments, watching flat screen TVs or catching up on emails using the café’s free Wi-Fi service.
Specific treatments for vitamin or hormonal deficiencies are designed based on the results of intracellular analysis blood testing and customized treatments are formulated to specific wants. For example, one infusion treat- ment could combine several benefits, such as mental alertness, skin rejuvena- tion and increased energy.
Treatments last for weeks or longer and may be covered under insur- ance or applied toward a deductible amount, unlike oral vitamins, which don’t qualify. Donna Roberts, a board certified accredited nurse practitioner, and other medical assistants as well as medically certified professionals and licensed nurses are on hand to adminis- ter the treatments. No appointments are necessary and walk-ins are welcomed.
