The FREE monthly community magazine for Dartmouth and local villages
Best read local publication by far IN THIS ISSUE Dear Reader
As Max Brandt asks in his article - where did the year go? As Christmas nears, the By the Dart team have yet to take our collective foot off the accelerator - we’ve another bumper issue to end the year on a high note.
Included this month are yet more fascinationg interviews - Clive Pearson will be well known to many readers and we make no excuse for the long but fascinating account of his interesting life. Many locals are sampling the delights of Browney’s on Coronation Park - we speak with Colin Brown himself. The new Harbourmaster, Rob Giles, speaks exclusively to By The Dart.
Ever wondered who sculpted ‘Miranda’, Dartmouth’s own mermaid? We’ve met with local artist Elisabeth Hadley. We also speak with Ian A’Court who’s built quite a reputation as a viticulturist. New Year’s Eve is fast approaching when fancy dress is de riguer - who’s the ‘fanciest dresser’ on the night? Joppy Pillar has probably no equal in the town.
We’ve served up alot of local history in recent months - this month we look at the history of Blackpool Sands and its defences and the fascinating story of Charlie Williams, a long distance walker of great renown. Rachel Kempson, the mother of the Redgrave acting dynasty is our ‘Famous Daughter’.
A reminder that next month, there’s no monthly issue of By The Dart - instead residents will receive our 2011 By The Dart Business & Community Directory (bigger and better than 2010 ) - normal service will be resumed in February.
Finally, our very best wishes for Christmas and New Year to all readers of By The Dart. We are extremely grateful for your continued loyal support as well as the 400+ advertisers, with whom we’ve done business this past year.
Kind regards
Mark Simpson, Publisher
