The Healing Power of Pan Gu Shengong

by Linda Sechrist “T

ake kindness and benevo- lence as basis,” advises Grand Qigong Master Ou,

Wen Wei. “Take frankness and friendli- ness to heart.” These are among the tenets of Pan Gu Shengong (PGSG), a mystical qigong originated by Master Ou that is designed to absorb the es- sence of qi (energy) from the universe in order to purify the soul, strengthen the life force and bring better health to the body.

The fundamental philosophy and practice of PGSG is rooted in kindness and charity. “The way of treating others and dealing with everyday affairs is to speak with reason, treat with courtesy, act with emotion and accomplish re- sult,” says Master Ou, who will present a PGSG workshop in January. Skeptical individuals might con- sider enhanced spiritual and physical well-being a tall order for the mystical qigong’s subtle and simple training ex- ercises. However, local resident Susan DeFlavis, one of the world’s leading PGSG instructors, can wholeheartedly attest to the possibilities that manifest when the power and energy of the uni- verse are consistently accessed daily. DeFlavis, who has been practicing this powerful Chinese form of qigong since 2003, was once a seriously ill woman suffering from cerebral hypoxia, which

damaged her brain and affected her immediate short-term and long-term memory, caused a speaking problem and resulted in poor reading compre- hension; reflex sympathetic dystrophy, a chronic pain condition; and severe allergies to many foods.

“I tried everything under the sun to heal my body and mind, but by October 2003, my health was failing rapidly,” says DeFlavis. She found a PGSG instructor, and she says the mys- tical qigong practice helped change her life. Today, DeFlavis is healthy, robust and studying for a master’s degree in nursing.

“I am a PGSG instructor, and oc- casionally I give lectures; no one ever believes that I had brain damage,” enthuses DeFlavis, who is grateful to Master Ou, her teacher, and PGSG. “I know I wouldn’t be here today without this precious gift that I cherish, love and teach to others as much as possible.” DeFlavis won an award in 2008 for Outstanding Contribution to the World in Qigong and traveled to Beijing to ac- cept it at China’s Health and Longevity Forum and Health Industry Expo. Inspired by DeFlavis, Naples resi- dent Leize Perlmutter took a workshop with Master Ou and eventually became a PGSG instructor. “I met Susan five years ago, and the change in her is

more than remarkable,” says Perlmut- ter, who explains that she was initially intrigued by the healing potential of PGSG. After taking Master Ou’s workshop last year, she has become an enthusiastic advocate. “I’m always investigating different healing modali- ties, but I wanted to learn this one even though I didn’t have any major health issues,” notes Perlmutter, who adds that PGSG is a simple and powerful healing method and can be done in combina- tion with other modalities. “I believe that it brings the body into harmony and balance by tapping into the Uni- versal Life Force, and when that occurs, the body has a natural inclination to heal itself.”
