The Sleep Event 24-25 November 2010, The Business Design Centre, London

The Sleep Event, Europe’s premier event for the design, architecture and development of hotels, takes place from 23-25 November. The European Hotel Design Awards, which celebrate recently completed cutting-edge hotel projects, begin on the evening of the 23rd, with The Sleep Event Exhibition and top-level Conference starting the following day and running until 25th November.

There is a lot to see over the three days, so we look at some of the highlights...

THE EUROPEAN HOTEL DESIGN AWARDS As the awards ceremony for the hotel industry, this is one not to miss. Apart from being a valuable networking opportunity, the awards highlight the best hotel projects to be completed around Europe within the last year, including Turnberry Hotel, Scotland; Mandarin Oriental, Spain; Grace Santorini Hotel, Greece and The Scarlet Hotel, England. TV presenter Clare Balding comperes this year’s awards.

THE SLEEP EVENT CONFERENCE The full programme has now been unveiled for this year’s Sleep Event Conference (see opposite page). This top-level conference features an exciting new format: panel sessions discussing key hotel projects. Highlights include a discussion surrounding the renovation of the Savoy, London, including Conrad Smith, Managing Director of ReardonSmith Architects. Other key sessions include Naushad Jivraj, CEO of Queensway Group, speaking about Tune Hotels.com and their ‘5 star beds at 1 star prices’ ethos, and panels shedding light on The Squair / Hilton & Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport and Radisson Blu Waterfront Stockholm.

FREE SEMINARS... For the second year the show will feature a programme of free seminars, topics include Water Efficiency, Bathrooms: from rational to emotional and an expert panel of operators and designers discussing their favourite hotels from around the globe.
