The Hornchurch & Upminster Rotary Club were delighted to announce that over £600 was raised at The Grand Charity Playathon which was held at the Queen's Theatre in Hornchurch on Saturday July 7th
Around 50 young people aged between 7 - 18 years old were invited to participate at the event to help raise money for local children's charity First Step and the inter- national charity Kids Alive.
The Playathon saw students from local schools perform as soloists and ensembles and the event culminated in an outstanding finale by the twenty strong jazz band from St Edward's. Schools that participated in the event included Hall Mead School, En- gayne Primary, Sanders Draper, Abbs Cross, Coopers' Company and Coborn and St Edward's Comprehensive and the Havering Music School

The Rotary Clubs of Romford and Hornchurch & Upminster joined the Rotary Club of Havering East for an evening of fellowship and a presentation by Peter Smith and Bar- bara New from the Queen's Hospital.
