Jaipur Artificial Limb Centre

Once again on Sun- day 23 September 2007 our Rotary Club enjoyed the hospital- ity of Seema and Sub- hash Hora for a gar- den party at their house in aid of the

Jaipur Artificial Limb Centre nick named Jaipurfoot. Our Club took interest in 1990 when Kenny Ball, the famous jazz player, offered to give his services free top aid the charity. On September 9 1990 the show was organ- ised and our club made a sum of over £3,400 in one night and this money was sent to Jaipurfoot. Since that day we have been making our contribution whenever possible. This year an event was held at Seema and Subhash's home and the afternoon was a great success.

Thanks to all the Rotarians who joined us, we were able to raise a sum of £780.

The Times magazine in 1990 said 'People who live inside the world's many war zones from Afghanistan to Rwanda may never have heard of New York or Paris, but they are likely to know a town in Northern India called Jaipur'.

At present the average cost of a Jaipur limb is $30 which is a fraction of what is being charged abroad. This is the most inexpensive and cost effective artificial limb in the world.
