Club members will know that we have been working on a Rotary Foun- dation Matching Grant project with our new twin club of Hermeskeil- Hunsrück. The project is based in the town of Lauro de Freitas, Bahia in Bra- zil and is designed to help children liv-
ing in danger on the street whose lives are normally characterised by poverty, drug con- sumption and drug criminality by giving them an opportunity to participate in a selection of youth groups and, for the older young people, a possibility to earn an income.
The project will provide equipment for three youth activities:
A Football group A Drumming Band A Children's‘ Dance Group
In addition the project will facilitate the pur- chase of an hydraulic press, a crane and a
small truck to enable around 40 young people to earn a living by collecting and recycling
