ASSOCIATE COUNCIL NEWS W
hat an exciting October meeting for the Associate Council; we had
a packed house! A huge thanks to Diane Wiederhold and Glenn Kite from MHI, who joined Patrick Mayhan from Westin Homes to bring “Characteristics of a Good Trade Partner” to the associates this month.
These days, the key is
understanding how to set yourself apart from your competition and finding ways to stand out to be on top. What are some of the ways they suggested doing that?
• Research the builder and know exactly who they are and what kind of product they are building so you understand their needs before approaching them.
• Know your prices when you make your first presentation. Price is the usually the key deciding factor in our economy.
• Understand what the best way is for them to utilize your product offering and how it can make them more successful
with their homebuyers. How is your product going to add value to the construction of their home and the amount of time it takes to build a home?
• Who are the people you are currently doing business with? References are key, and reputation is everything in the homebuilding business.
• Know your competition and make sure you are doing everything to be at the top of your game.
We also were excited to have our long time friend Frank Aranza join us to share information about the upcoming Adopt-a-Family Project, an Associate Council tradition we look forward to every December. See page 16 for more information on how you and your company can make a difference in the life of a child that might have gone without this Christmas if it were not for this wonderful event.
