What a BLAST! Shooting with the boys
Way back when we had our
first editorial advisory board meeting for Bounder, I mentioned that I might be able to arrange a trip to the Connaught rifle range to shoot some serious artillery. Everyone in the room volunteered to come!
I knew I had to set this up. So, months later I was finally
able to get a date for us to go. I invited Randall Moore of CHEZ FM Morning News and former Ottawa Senators player Shean Donovan to come with me. I figured since Randall and I shoot the breeze on the radio and Shean shoots to score, why not try a different kind of shooting? It ended up to be a great afternoon had by all.

Connaught range is literally in
the city, tucked away off Carling Avenue at Shirley’s Bay. It is very impressive when you drive in…lots of buildings, vintage army tanks, and of course lots of shooting ranges. Lieutenant-Colonel Gérard
Sénéchal escorted us to the range and proceeded to give us a rundown on their weapons that we would handle -- plus had his men give us some basic safety training. We started with a C7 rifle,
similar to what is used today in combat in Afghanistan. We were lined up with our target 100 yards away. Each of us were given two magazines of ammo: one to shoot semi-automatically and one to shoot fully-automatically. What a blast!
