253626-105 28 THE TRIBUNE/LEADER - September 23 - September 29, 2010

By Matt Tate Weaverville’s largest street festi-

val was the beneficiary of pristine early fall weather Saturday (Sept. 18), and large turnouts made the fourth annual Art in Autumn event another successful venture. Beth Mangum of Mangum Pot-

tery in downtown Weaverville said the festival organizers sold out of t-shirts. “It was a great show. Everybody

seemed very happy,” she added. More than 100 juried artists and

craftspeople set up booths on Main Street. Area businesses and organi- zations joined in on the festivities, selling food and inviting festival- goers to stop by their stores. Fiber artist and Asheville resident

Rahnna Nyman finished first in the competition. Selena Glass finished second and Kim Tompson placed third. An honorable mention award was given to one of the festival’s longest travelers, wood artist Ni- cole Baugess of Columbus, Ohio. Other honorable mention awards were given to Courtney Tomchik, JJ Brown and Simona Rosasco as well as Andy Brittain. Links to each of the winning art-

ists’ Web sites can be found on Art in Autumn’s Facebook page.
