The Brunswick Group: Global Information Technology Transformation I


n 1993, The Brunswick Group’s co- founder, Michael Rose started his information technology management career at a small boutique search firm in northern New Jersey where he developed a long and distinguished resume as an IT recruiter. Michael began recruiting within the BPICS market in which he placed IT professionals within the apparel and retail industries during the mid-90s. He would later move into staffing large SAP projects at fortune 500 firms such as Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. and Lucent Technologies in the late 90s. Sitting in his office in New Brunswick, New Jersey surrounded by over two decades of industry sales and service awards, Michael recalls the decision to build his own business with his childhood friend and co-founder of the Brunswick Group, Randy Jones. “The idea of building a business as a team with a longtime friend just seemed obvious. But more important, rapid changes in technology in 1999 and demand for IT talent exceeded the capacity of most firms to deliver. Experience, process and reputation” is what the newly formed


Brunswick Group would provide its global clientele.


As Michael paused, Randy noted that the technology spending slowdown of 2001 “caused us as a firm to further streamline our processes and identify talent for the Brunswick Group that would be the foundation of our current service delivery model and business success.” Since leaving Merrill Lynch in 1999 to form The Brunswick Group’s information technology consulting and permanent placement practice, Randy has focused The Brunswick Group on transformation and integration solutions for their global client base. Having worked and lived abroad for several years in both emerging and developed markets, Randy has kept the firm focused on global solutions that reduce cost but recognizes the local needs of a client’s business process, culture and customers.


Both Randy and Michael, at age 41, agree that in 2011 and beyond, identifying trends, initiating change and helping clients transform their IT environments is not a unique

approach. However, having a cost effective model that is performance metric driven, quality management focused and best practice centric, requires experienced talent.
