MYSTICAL MENTORS Palmistry Competition By T. Stokes

I was one of several counselors dealing with trau- matized troops after the first Iraq war. Many of these men will never be normal again. People ask how men brought up with the Christian commandment; “thou shalt not kill” can then allow themselves to be part of an aggressive war which many of them knew was fake.

So many of these men along with those who were vic- tims of enforced rendition were afterwards released into the main London psychiatric hospital, where I, with permission, took many handprints in any official study. Certain aspects of internal illness will show continually but the fact that some men do not show these aspects does not mean these men are faking. We have much to learn especially about the effects of stress and psycho- somatic illness.

The chief Psychiatrist at the hospital Henri Rey was open to anything that improved the lot of his patients, even allowing a dog and several cats to be brought into the building so that those who were shut off inside and could no longer relate to people could still have a focus to relate to. Animals are great healers. Men generally would relate to dogs and woman to the cats.

Henri Rey called the hospital the “Brick Mother” because it was a place of safety, the kind that some people had not known since the womb.

The Human Rights act, meant you could no longer touch a patient as this could be construed as an assault and a breach of his Human Rights, but touching was just people needed.

what many

A light touch of support on the arm or shoulder or even a smile can be a touch. As I had to counsel many ex sol- diers, I realized that to touch their hands as we spoke made a bridge which allowed a continuity, a spiritual flow if you like.

The healing powers of touch are often forgotten in these situations, and when I read palms people often say that my hands give such comfort.

Perhaps the most important part of any reading is that part where you empathize with someone.

At a point of mutual understanding, each man carries a place of secret pain. No one is immune so to be able to

gently reach into that person and touch that place and give release is possibly the best part of palmistry.

I have had readings where every statement was correct, with clear and concise facts, but with no feeling, no understanding and no belonging. Make sure when you read for others that you allow for the gentle deep inter- action of this spiritual catharsis, for to bond with that person and feel his pain for a moment, will be some- thing they do not forget on the long healing road.

Professor John Manning in his recent landmark book “Finger Ratios” shows how, from the diet in the womb, a persons character and health can later be influenced and read from the hand of the adult. Just as palmists have always said, and Arnold Holtzmon’s research has also confirmed much old lore and breached new boundaries in psychotherapeutic palmistry. Even Carl Jung claimed he based his theories of personality on Astrological signs.Winston Churchill’s military astrologer, louis De Wohl, devised the right time for D day. The hand contains its own horoscope, and the information is the same information.

The psychologist Hans Eysenck spent years in for- mulating his theories on connecting the way people think to the later life diseases they suffer. Louise Hay has written much in a similar vein, but

the most exciting advances from this has been what is called “German new

medicine” This practice of treating the whole person. This shows that spiri- tual healing or counseling can and does affect the physical body.

Look closely at this handprint. Those of
