FEATURES Wh y are Some Places More Paranormaly Active? Ed Laughlin & Olivia Newton

Why are some places more active with paranormal activity, especially ghostly activity, Psychic abilities, and UFO sightings? That is a question on many investiga- tors’ minds. There are many thoughts on the subject as to why this occurs. Some think the reason may be linked to certain types of bedrock underground, others believe it may be due to underground or surface water, while others assert it is the energy of the area affected by tragic death(s) and other heinous events.

Our group, Ghosts of Georgia Paranormal Investigations have investigated many areas of Georgia, but pri- marily in and around Atlanta. We have investigated private homes, businesses, and his- toric places. We also have investi- gated many locations in and around Columbus, GA and surrounding towns including Talbatton, Warm Springs, Hogansville, Manchester, Ellerslie, and Pine Mountain to name a few. Some of the more famous places outside Georgia such as Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Kentucky, the St. Augustine lighthouse in Florida and the Stanley Hotel in Colorado have also been the focus of our investigations.

We have had good success at find- ing evidence of paranormal activity in the places around the Atlanta area, but at times have come away empty handed with no findings to support the claims of paranor- mal activity. On the other hand, every time we have investigated in Columbus and the surround- ing area, we have had excellent success and have never left an investigation without having some evidence of activ- ity, whether it be EVPs, unexplained spikes on our EMF meter, communication with the K-II meter, seeing appa- ritions, being touched, or even having objects move of their own volition.

Limestone and bodies of moving water, along with elec- trical sub stations are often suspected of causing para- normal events to occur or perhaps making the envi- ronment conducive to these activities. As mentioned earlier, many believe that tragic occurrences, such as murders, rapes, kidnapping, family violence, etc. cause the malevolent energy to stay in the surrounding areas, which are subsequently picked up by those people who are gifted with the ability to perceive them.

Oracle 20/20 October 2010

The idea of negative energy comes to mind when I think of Meriwether County, and John Wallace’s ‘kingdom’. Wallace allegedly killed many black farmhands and disposed of some of their bodies in wells on his vast properties. It is a fact that he killed one such worker just as he crossed over into Coweta County. Thinking he was still in his ‘kingdom’ where no one would dare prosecute him, Wallace beat the man to death. He was, however, just a few feet into Coweta County where the sheriff arrested him; he was ultimately executed for his crime. You can read about this event in a book titled “Murder in Coweta County” or view it in a movie by the same name, with Andy Griffith and Johnny Cash.

Warm Springs is another Meriwether County town where I, personally, am aware of two suicides and one murder. There may be others. Tales of ghosts abound in this small place.

Those with the psychic attributes have also stated that there are certain areas where their abilities seem stronger and contribute it to the Ley lines in the Earth. From ancient times to modern day there have been monuments

and cities built on Ley lines all over the world suggesting there may be source of energy coming from the lines.

While investigating a location we check the environment surround- ing it, including any man made energy sources, such as overhead power lines, above ground and underground power stations, etc., along with natural energy sourc- es, such as the underground rock formations, water sources, etc. When possible we check into the history of the location and the

land as far back as we can find records for including any archeological finds that may explain the human history of the location.

So I leave the answer up to you: Are there natural expla- nations, malevolent energy, or perhaps another solu- tion we do not yet understand. Your guess is as good as mine but like other Paranormal researchers we will continue to find answers.
