Offerings The CI10 conference program features 13 tracks, encompassing more than 110 seminars. In keeping with its “Moving Forward” premise, the show’s edu- cational component focuses on the forces that are reshaping the industry, including: the changing face of the traditional health club; the latest trends in facil- ity management; updated marketing techniques, including social networking; post-recession financial planning; business practices for personal trainers; and much more. A quick glance at the lengthy list of conference topics
confirms the show’s concern with both core and change-centric topics. In the former category, there are offerings such as “Eight Numbers to Manage Your Club With,” and, in the latter, attractions such as “How to Generate Club Leads and Money Using the Internet.” CI10 will also feature several innovative events
that, Greenebaum promises, have “implications beyond the conference room.” Among them:
• “The Internet Marketing Challenge”—Presented by well-known author, entrepreneur, and fit- ness-marketing specialist Casey Conrad, this program is designed to provide club operators with a hands-on experience generating pros- pects and revenues via the Internet.
Crowds converge on Club Industry trade show
• “Medical Fitness: Rx for Health”—This four-session track, presented by Jim Bell, Ph.D., the founder and president of the International Fitness Professionals Association (IFPA), will cover prescription protocols and behavior-modification techniques.
ON THE PODIUM: SIMMONS & RANCIC CI10 will feature two impressive and exciting keynote
speakers with valuable ideas to share. The iconic fit- ness celebrity Richard Simmons will, in his inimitable
way, take on the topic of “Shaping a More Fit World: How to Create an Environment that Motivates,” on Thursday, October 7. During his 30-year-plus career, Simmons has inspired countless Americans to “get up off the couch,” and, by one estimate, helped them to lose more than 3 million pounds. In his presentation, Simmons will explain how club operators can make their facilities places that are more welcoming and able to provide healthier lifestyles for everyone. The second-day keynoter, Bill Rancic, an author, entrepreneur, and the first winner of Donald Trump’s The Apprentice televi- sion competition, will discuss “the importance of being agile” in his address, “You Don’t Have to Be Corporate to Think Like an Entrepreneur,” on October 8. “When you’re in business, you have to be able to adjust with the times” is Rancic’s timely message. —|

• “Licensing Personal Trainers: Next Step in the Evo- lution of Health and Fitness”—An updated version of the well-received Town Hall presentation introduced at CI09, this panel discussion will be chaired by Club Industry Managing Editor Stuart Goldman.
• Retail Forum Workshops—These two workshops will present case studies on clubs that have implemented successful retail operations based on supplements and functional foods.
New this Year
A number of new offerings will complement the perennial favorites of the Club Industry conference. The Natural Products Pavilion, sponsored by the Natural Products Expo, will feature manufacturers and distributors offering beverages, supplements, functional foods, and nutritional programs; while the Personal Training Pavilion will showcase the latest functional-training products.
