Best Alberta hikes from Scouts Canada Who knows the back-country better than the Scouts? The 25th Edmonton Scout Group, shares some of its hard-earned knowledge revealing some of the best hiking and camping in the Canadian Rockies area. The founder of Scouts Canada, Lord Baden-Powell, once said that Scouts were the “guardians of the woods”. Tried and tested, here are the 25th Edmonton Scouts’ top five places to experience Alberta’s natural splendour:

Whitehorse Wildland Park - Teeming with wildlife – everything from grizzlies to harlequin ducks – the park features excellent multi-day hiking and camping in the back-country just outside of Hinton. Be sure to see the stunning Upper Whitehorse Creek Falls. Sights include closed forests of lodgepole pine, Englemann Spruce & sub-alpine fir at lower elevations; at higher elevations you'll explore alpine meadows with willow shrubs, lichens & wildflowers.
