A PACE-ful Way to Conserve, Save Money
L
earn how to reduce your carbon footprint and save money by
lowering electric bills at informative lectures offered by Marie Barnett, a design studio owner in Naples with degrees in architecture and environ- mental design. Her Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program will of- fer group lectures discussing how to green retrofit existing homes. Barnett, who is running the
PACE program with Steve Hart, says the presentations will cover a history of green architecture, with emphasis on local examples, and an analysis of homes that were built from the 1970s to the present. She will explain how to green retrofit an older home and how to access tax incentives and green rebates. Barnett will determine days,
times and locations for the lectures for at least 10 attendees each, based on public feedback and interest. She will also conduct classes though the Renaissance Academy of Florida Gulf Coast University, beginning in January.
