Happy Holidays for Children with Additional Needs

S

SAFA – Forces Help is taking registrations for their 2010 holidays. The fun week-long

breaks can prove life-changing experiences for youngsters. A father from Odiham said, “Liam came back and did not stop talking about it for days. He had been rock climbing, abseiling, kayaking, orienteering and swimming. It did so much for his self- esteem. He took part in everything and enjoyed every moment.

Read to Your Child Every Night while You are Away

“ T

hanks soooo very much for the lovely story you have recorded onto CD for Joshua! We got it

this morning. I put it on in the kitchen and started to cry! We listened to all of it together, Thank you so much for taking the time to do this!”

Story Book Wings is an initiative whereby recordings of deployed parents can be sent to their child(ren). A bed time story, nursery rhymes, poems, they will love to hear the sound of your voice and it is there for them whenever they want to hear it. The recordings have added sound effects to make them that little bit more special. All you have to do read that story. The Story Book Wings team will do the rest.

THE EVIDENCE YOU GAVE US

workshops. The results are now available for all to see in the Federation’s Evidence Report. The evidence gathered has already been used to inform policy debates on issues such as: the definition of family, the length of Operational deployments and the all- important deliberations by the Armed Forces Pay Review Body.
