Our Projects
Conservation Volunteers projects are managed in conjunction with project partners that may include regional councils, national parks, museums, landcare groups, conservation departments and other national conservation agencies. All of our projects can be broadly categorised into the following key focus areas.
Flora & Fauna
Australia and New Zealand are home to some of the most incredible wildlife and plants on the planet. Changes to the landscape as a result of human activity have put many of these unique species at risk. Since European settlement many species of birds, animals and plants have already become extinct. We provide vital assistance in a range of projects to protect our biodiversity and raise money to support our work through our Wild Futures campaign.
Landcare
We live in a very diverse part of the world with landscapes ranging from tropical to alpine, desert to coastal, urban to agricultural and everything in between. We aim to tackle a range of issues that aff ect the sustainability of our land including salinity, erosion and invasive species by working with Landcare groups, farmers, catchment and local authorities and other land owners. Our volunteers get involved in projects that include revegetation (including large-scale tree planting projects), weed & pest control, fencing and seed collection.
Parks & Reserves
We believe that parks are special places that should be enjoyed by everyone, which is why we work in partnership with parks and sanctuaries across Australia and New Zealand to help protect these precious natural places, and their inhabitants. Projects may include track construction and maintenance; interpretive signage, fencing, weed & pest control, revegetation activities and other practical actions in line with park management plans. Our teams also carry out wildlife surveys and support specialised species programs such as captive breeding programs, radio tracking and species release activities.
