Hooray! We’re Older and Wiser! Students don’t “graduate” from OES until they finish the 12th Grade, but nonetheless they celebrate their “promotion” each year, especially at the end of Fifth Grade, when they leave the Lower School, and at the end of Eighth Grade, when they leave the Middle School. At the promotion ceremony in Lower School, each fifth-grader gets a moment in the spotlight to tell about a memorable moment in his or her school experience. Dressed in their Sunday best, they relate inspiring, embarrassing, and enlightening vignettes. Then each class in turn applauds its promo tion.

Students cheer after their promotion from Third Grade to Fourth Grade.

AASK Summer Camp Serves Record Number The AASK program provided a summer learning experience in July for a record 157 students from Vose Elementary School and Whitford Middle School. Many OES students and alumnae/i served as counselors and counselors-in-training. This year the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation and The Herbert A. Templeton Foundation provided important funding. Bon Appetit, which provides catering services for the OES dining hall, made an in-kind donation of lunches.
