Weaverville Man Cave not Mary Kay
By Matt Tate No plastic storage containers or
beauty products to be found here. A new demonstration selling
company featuring meat and grill- ing products is targeting men, and men alone, and the model is gath- ering traction across the country, including in Weaverville. Randy Bassham is a local advi-
sor for Man Cave, a company in the vein of Tupperware and Mary Kay in which area marketers host parties to promote a wide line of Man Cave products. Te twist on Man Cave is
that the gender base has been switched. Bassham said he founded out
about the year-old company through the online site Craigslist and after researching, he opted to get involved roughly six weeks ago. “Tere hasn’t been anything out
there like this for me. So, I enthu- siastically got involved,” he said. “Tis is the quintessential cottage industry.” Man Cave sells premium meats,

Arthritis and Pets Many older dogs and some younger
ones develop pain associated with osteoarthritis. Larger dogs are most susceptible but any size or breed could be at risk. Early signs include difficulty ris- ing and a hesitancy to jump up onto the couch or bed or into the car. Dogs with these symptoms are feeling pain. Tere are many treatment options and life style changes that can both slow the progres- sion of arthritis and greatly improve your pet’s quality of life by controlling pain. If your dog is showing the signs of arthritis, please call your veterinarian to set up an examination today. Cats can also develop arthritis and may be helped with supple- ments or medication.

grilling tools and beer and poker accessories. Bassham, who is be- hind the Multi-Purpose Athletic Complex proposed for North Buncombe, said 18 individuals showed up for his first gathering Saturday (Feb. 27), known as a “meating.” Bassham fired up the grill,
shared some food and employed a soft-sell technique to entice his clientele. “People out there are way over-
sold,” he said. “Tese products sell themselves because of their qual- ity. Tings are becoming homog- enized in terms of availability. As such, a niche has developed for
quality grilling products.” Man Cave has gathered more
than 400 advisors across the coun- try since last year. Nick Beste, a student at the University of Min- nesota, started the company as a reaction to what he saw as an overabundance of female-market- ed direct selling companies. Te company utilizes social net-
working capabilities to promote itself, a technique passed down to Bassham, who has brought in a team of 13 individuals thus far. Anyone interested can con-
