Make that three for three. March became the third consecu-

tive month of 2010 that has seen a significant snow event for North Bun- combe after Tuesday’s (March 2) blast that brought higher-than-expected accumulation totals. Five inches or more blanketed the

area Tuesday and snow showers per- sisted through Wednesday (March 3).

However, somewhat moderate

temperatures kept much of the snow from piling up too much on the roads and the area remained relatively clear of weather-related accidents. Te Woodfin and Weaverville fire

departments reported no weather- related calls. Barnardsville Fire De- partment assisted an individual who slipped on some ice, while the Jupiter Fire Department responded to a mi- nor car accident on Sheppard Branch Road. School schedules, though, were

once again in upheaval. North Buncombe schools reported

on a delay while other Buncombe County districts were canceling, but dismissed at 11:45 am. Schools were also cancelled

Wednesday. It was North Buncombe’s 15th snow day of the school year. North Buncombe students will be

reporting to school Saturday (March 6), the district’s third consecutive Sat- urday school day.
