Mr. Lyda was


born Aug. 7, 1937 in Bun- combe County. He worked in furniture up- holstery for 50 years and retired from Office Environ-


ments after 15 years. Billy loved to travel, camp, fish and bluegrass music. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Lyda was a son of the late Leon- ard Lee and Edith Allen Lyda and was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Edward and Bobby Lyda and a sister, Virginia Clemmons. Surviving are his wife of 51 years,


Tis week’s Hero of the Week is Woodfin Elementary School fifth-


grade teacher Cindy Creson and her class, known as “Creson’s Crew.” Tey have many outstanding projects this year. Recently, Creson’s class traveled to an area nursing home and made pillows as part of the fifth-grade service project. Te class also finished a 50 States project to enhance geography skills and put on the play “Wings for a King” for the school.
