Do you think it is easy to be LGBT and proud in Norwich and Norfolk?

Sure, I’ve never experienced any kind of homophobia.

What do you think of Norwich Pride? I enjoyed playing the warm up, but i haven't attended many of the events or anything though.

Do you go to any of the LGBT-friendly-drinking- holes in Norwich (please say why/why not)? Not really, but I don't not go for any particular reason!

Do you think it is easy to be LGBT and proud in Norwich and Norfolk? I wouldn't say easy. I am still not comfortable walking hand in hand with my girlfriend through Norwich and probably lesser still in the further reaches of Norfolk. The vast majority of the general public probably couldn't care less but I guess I still assume that we would be open to abuse, which I'm just not tough enough to want to deal with.

What do you think of Norwich Pride? I think it’s fantastic that Norwich is a city able to have a Pride celebration, backed by an encouraging and supportive City Hall with a dedicated Pride committee working hard to create a programme of events for our diverse community. Especially looking forward to Ladyfest.

Do you go to any of the LGBT-friendly-drinking- holes in Norwich (please say why/why not)? We occasionally go to The Catherine Wheel to socialise with friends; we've always found the staff and clientele open & welcoming. But we usually go out to the Norwich Arts Centre, The Birdcage or Playhouse Bar. Mostly for gigs.

I’ve only experienced any sort of prejudice at school, but that’s kids for you. Norwich has been a cool place to come out in. We don’t need Brighton!

What do you think of Norwich Pride? I’m not involved in any of the events, but I’d probably go to a couple of them just for a good night out. I think it might make it easier for other people my age to come out.

Do you go to any of the LGBT-friendly-drinking- holes in Norwich (please say why/why not)? Yeah, sometimes to meet guys! I probably go to just as many ‘straight’ places too though.

Do you think it is easy to be LGBT and proud in Norwich and Norfolk? Yes. My sexuality never comes into question as I have a very supportive group of friends, mostly straight, who see me as an individual and not just ‘gay’. Norwich is hugely accepting.

What do you think of Norwich Pride? I don’t see the need for it. We want to be treated as equals, yet we shout that we’re different by staging Pride. I think the help that the LGBT Project is more effective for individuals affected.

Do you go to any of the LGBT-friendly-drinking- holes in Norwich (please say why/why not)? Very rarely. When I first came out, I did so that I could meet other people in my situation, but I’m more interested in places with good music!
