EAR TO THE GROUND >> OWL PROJECT: INSTRUMENTS AND FLOW
Manchester based Owl Project is a group of artists who share interests in human interaction with technology and process led art. Ed Carter is work- ing in collaboration with Owl Project and has delivered a range of projects with a focus on digital media. Owl Project is known for a range of sculp- tural musical instruments their portable ‘rustic’ instruments, with names such as the ‘iLog’ are working digital instruments that mimic popu- lar gadgets like the ubiquitous iPod. TEN COMMUNITY PROJECTS BENEFIT FROM ARTS IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD FUNDING
Over £10,000 was awarded to 10 local arts organisations in the third and final round of awards from Kirklees Cultural & Leisure in their Arts in the Neighbourhood scheme 2009/2010.
The Arts in the Neighbourhood
awards (grants of between £150 and £2,000) are made to help community and voluntary groups set up arts and cultural projects and events by con- tributing towards the costs. Projects must be wholly or mainly for the bene- fit of Kirklees residents and involve Kirklees residents.
The success of these projects and events demonstrates the value of the
Arts in The Neighbourhood scheme in developing, encouraging, and capital- izing on the talent and cultural diver- sity of the borough and providing opportunities for its residents.
Provision has been made for three fur- ther rounds of awards in 2010/2011.a
