COURSES CONFERENCES AND EVENTS ENAMELLING WITH CLARE LAYTON


Date: 26 June Time: 10am-4pm Location: artworks-mk , Parklands, Great Linford, Milton Keynes Cost: £52 Enamelling is the ancient technique of surface decoration by way of kiln heating enamel onto a metal plate. The results are always amazing as the colours run and melt into each other, each piece being totally individual. The finished pieces can then be made into jewellery, key rings etc.

The second Creative Clusters Summer School is a five-day


FUNDING


BIG improvements to BIG’s Reaching Communities (England) which provides grants of £10,000 – £500,000 for projects that help people and communities who are most in need, and can really make a difference. Improvements include a simpler application process (BIG sigh of relief) for those applying for less than £40,000; better chance of being funded if you are invited to complete a full application; more support for applicants at every stage of the process and applications can be made at any time. B&Q operate a waste donation scheme and every store wherever they are is striving to be a ‘good neighbour’ by forming partnerships with its local community. So if it’s slightly damaged tins of paint, odd rolls of wallpaper or end of range materials and you represent a community group, charity or school then pay your local B&Q a visit.


Funding for Youth Led Community Projects (England) – the Youth of Today Leadership Fund supports projects that enable young people aged 13 to 19 to make positive changes in their community. The


fund is managed by the Young Foundation and is open to small community and voluntary organisations that work with young people. Awards for Bridging Cultures (UK) is open to community and voluntary organisations that are working towards making a real and meaningful contribution towards mutual understanding of cultural differences. There are three different categories and winners from each of the two categories for voluntary sector organisations will receive £10,000 and commended organisations in these categories will receive up to £5,000 each. The Baring Foundation has announced its Arts Programme for 2011 and will be open for applications at the end of September 2010. The focus is on Arts

A reminder that the 15th July is the next closing date for BBC Children in Need (UK) Two types of grants, up to £10,000 or les per year for up to three years and Main Grants of over £10,000 per year for up to three years. Strong evidence to suggest that arts organisations do receive support for work which engages young people and addresses the issues of illness; distress; abuse or neglect; disability; young people with behavioural or psychological difficulties or are living in poverty or situations of deprivation. The Pilgrim Trust runs a small grants programme, up to £5,000 and a main programme for grants above this sum. Their priorities are social welfare in the context of breaking cycles of dependency and to help develop a sense of social inclusion in disadvantaged or marginalised groups within the UK. The fund


immersion in best practice in developing the creative economy at the local level. The School draws on thirty years of creative industries regeneration in Yorkshire to help strengthen local enterprise deliver sustainable growth and make places of distinction.
