The AMEAGoverning Board met at the Blue Cross Blue Shield Building June 12, 2006. The meeting was called to order at 9:20 a.m. by AMEAPresident, Becky Rodgers. Present at the meeting were: Cindy Pass, John Baker, Becky Rodgers, Paul Edmondson, Pat Stegall, Carl Hancock, Garry Taylor, Melissa Kimbrough, Allen Bailey, Harry McAfee, Melissa Thomason and Ginger Zingara.
A copy of the minutes were given to each member present and they read them individually. Paul Edmondson (Cindy Pass) made a motion to accept the minutes as presented. carried
Allen Bailey (Melissa Thomason) made a motion to accept the Treasurer's report. carried

Old Business 1. State Course of Study still not available to review on the Alabama State Department of Education website. 2. FAME sessions to be held at the 2007 Conference 3. Hall of Fame deadline extended to July 15, 2006 4. Conference Suggestions Hire a Stage Manager
Higher Ed representatives to receive a special pass to attend Higher Ed representatives seeking opportunities to perform

3. A motion to approve the budget presented by the budget committee was made by Ginger Zingara (Paul Edmondson) carried 4. Other New Business: A motion was presented by Carl Hancock to conduct a detailed study of music teacher attrition and retention in the State of Alabama. This study will be done by Carl in cooperation with the AMEAExecutive Director. The motion was sanctioned by John Baker (Becky Rodgers) carried 5. A motion was made by Melissa Thomason (Allen Bailey) to increase compensation for mileage from $0.32 per mile to $0.40 per mile. carried
6. Ginger Zingara presented a Mentoring Program to be studied and possibly implemented throughout the State. Cindy Pass (Carl Hancock) made a motion to further promote the study. carried 7. Shirley Ellison presented a proposal, on Chris Cooper's behalf to hold a Young Composers competition throughout the State. John Baker (Ginger Zingara) made a motion to accept this proposal. Carried 8.Ken McGuire and Scott Bridges from the University of Alabama presented a proposal for advocacy for music teachers to be added state-wide. They were invited to attend the August meeting of the AMEAGoverning Board to supply more information. 9. Presentations were made to Outgoing President Becky Rodgers and Recording Secretary Allen Bailey on behalf of the AMEA Governing Board. 10. The next meeting will be held at the Sheraton Four Points on the campus of the University of Alabama. The meeting is sched- uled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on August 19, 2006.
