THE WOMEN OF BREWSTER PLACE
THE MUSICAL
Oprah Winfrey was first to get the rights to produce the film version
of Gloria Naylor’s beloved award-winning collection of stories which tell the story of eight diverse African American women in a 1970s Housing Project. The West Coast Premiere of the musical adaptation takes the women through identity struggles, poverty, love, loss and most of all, hope. The ambitious score consists of a medley of R&B, pop, disco and old school funk; portrayed comically to heartbreak- ing dramatic. Each of the women must face a personal demon and realize things are not as bad as they could be once they step outside of themselves and look at things from a differ- ent perspective. Runs through June 6 at The Celebration Theatre, 7051 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood. Tickets: 323.957.1884 or Celebra-
