Advantage 4 Athletes
Training Centre
Olympic athletes and everyday exercisers work out side by side at Advantage Fitness Sales’ new facility.

T
he Advantage 4 Athletes Training Centre (A4A) is a unique new facility in the heart of Markham, Ontario. The centre pri-
marily caters to small groups and sports teams but also to people who want to train in a non-fitness club type of environment. Olympic medalists
and professional athletes use the fa- cility as do hockey, soccer, rugby and football teams, to name just a few. As a result, there is equipment for training and testing in this facility that you will not easily find at other facilities. From a training perspective, the
large turf area for agility training and the indoor Mondo Super-X sprint
track are as impressive as the Olympic lifting platforms and the Hammer Strength ground-based units. Testing can include use of the force
mat and the electronic eye sprint tim- er. For endurance athletes, New Leaf aerobic capacity and anaerobic thresh- old testing are also available. The in- door track enables the A4A coaches to conduct video gait analysis of people walking and running in a controlled environment. It is easy to see that this facility is
for elite and weekend warrior athletes who are serious about improving their performances. According to Olympic bronze medalist Dominique Bosshart, “It’s great to finally have a world class high performance facility within driv- ing range of where I live.” Olympic hopeful Dasha
Peregoudova also trains at A4A. Dasha, A4A’s January athlete of the month, recently claimed a gold medal at the 2008 Pan Am Championships in Puerto Rico. Raffi Torres and his broth- er Daniel will both be back to train at A4A this coming summer. Raffi is com- ing off another great NHL season, and his brother is finishing an excellent season with the York University Lions.
A“From the moment they enter r 4A and are greeted by the inspi-
letes know they are going to train to their potential. The programs for the athletes are based on peri- odization and meeting their sport specific needs. My club players benefited immensely.”
