The Wake
From critically lauded playwright Lisa Kron [Well]
comes her latest work called The Wake. It’s Thanksgiv- ing, 2000 and as main character Ellen realizes many of her friends and family simply don’t understand how important the current race for president really is. Yet in all her passion for politics and the future of the U.S. Ellen just might be missing something that is far more important to her state of mind. Dark Star Orchestra is well known for their outstanding musicianship recreating The Grateful Dead Experience and the band’s extensive catalog of over 30 years of hit material. The Marvelous Wonderettes
If you ever were intrigued by the music of the late
1950s and early 1960s, The Marvelous Wonderettes is the perfect show to get a close-up look at the numer- ous hit songs that were created during that time pe- riod. The setting is the 1958 Springfield High School prom and the audience is introduced to four teenage girls with aspirations in the entertainment business. This off-Broadway hit showcases four fantastic sing- ers and comedians in a non-stomp romp of musical fun. The Marvelous Wonderettes is being staged at Musical Theatre West in Long Beach. Dreamgirls
Dreamgirls comes to The Orange County Perform-
ing Arts Center in a totally new and thoroughly entertaining stage production. The show is loosely based on the meteoric rise of the Motown trio called The Supremes.
