A-LISTS youthful thinking

California might be pass-

ing legislation that requires performers in adult films to wear condoms! Oh no, bareback will no longer be so bare anymore, what will we do? If this passes, a huge portion of porn will be outlawed! You might have to get some of your favorites from the black market. This isn’t just a California thing, some porn conventions are prohibiting porn that depicts sex without condoms from being sold at the convention. The reason for this legislation is to keep those thousands of people in the porn industry of California safe. By making it an industry stan-

dard to use a condom during anal penetration, it is hope that STI transmissions will drop drastically. People are outraged because they say no one thinks condoms are sexy… the whole point of porn is to be sexy. But why are condoms not sexy? It has to do with how we are socialized. Culturally it is not until very recently that it has been acceptable to use birth control, such as a condom. America is the odd ball on this

anal sex. If it is your cup of tea, be sure to engage in foreplay to ensure your penis is erect; you can’t properly roll a condom down a semi-hard or flaccid penis. Plus, it’s not visu- ally appealing to see a guy fumble with rolling a condom down his own not-so-stiff woody. Maybe you could even help him put it on; team work is always fun, wink. Don’t forget the condom-safe

lube! It’s a must; it helps make sure that it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a plastic bag down there. Apply a bit of lube to the inside of the tip of the condom and on the penis before putting on the con- dom on. Water-based condoms are safe, while oil-based condoms are not safe. The oil will make the condom tear very easily. You’re good to go! Just remember don’t layer condoms. Second, if it comes off, get a

issue. Also in Sweden, condom companies started making condoms that would fit younger teens properly to prevent unwanted pregnancies and help protect from the transmissions of STIs. California now has the unique opportunity to change this anti-condom culture for good. By forcing the adult film industrys to make their actors wear condoms, it will reinforce the idea that condoms can be sexy and help normalize the act of putting on a condom during sex, especially if they show each guy rolling on a condom on himself or his partner. I think condoms can be very sexy. They protect

you! What’s not sexy about that? First let’s go over the proper condom usage! Make sure the wrapping is un-tampered with.

Check for holes and tears. Also be sure to check the expiration date, you don’t want to have to deal with a broken condom, it’s a buzz kill. Another thing, all of us guys need to break the habit of carrying around condoms in our wallet. We are not in high school anymore; we do not need to impress anyone. It is

CONDOMS CAN BE

VERY SEXY!

great to be prepared! Unless you are paying for the wallet-safe condoms, I do not suggest storing a con- dom in your wallet. It is bad for the condom, making it more likely to rip during sexual intercourse such as

new one. Don’t make that face, I don’t care if it is not broken, you need a new one. Third, if it’s full, you need a new one. Reusing condoms in not a very good idea, they are more likely to rip and do not fit as well. If you cannot afford condoms, organizations like our LGBT Centers have free condoms for people to take. Be sure to dispose of the used one properly. Don’t flush it; it could be embarrassing, if the next person to see it is your mom, while she is

powdering her nose. I suggest you buy in bulk, it’s cheaper and well...

you’ll be able to spend less time in the store and more time in the bedroom. I know for me that it is always a little awkward to stand in line with a box of condoms. Now that we have established how to use a condom properly, here are some good reasons for why condoms are sexy! Condoms help protect against pregnancy…and more importantly, they protect against STIs. Condoms are eco-friendly. They help avoid messy clean up and reduce the number of times you have to wash your sheets! So, remember use condoms properly, make them

sexy! Next time you find yourself in the heat of the moment, don’t be afraid to pull out a condom, or two, with intent to use it! Be assertive, some guys like it.
