DINING OUT FOR LIFE
Now in its fourth year with The San Diego LGBT Center, Dining Out for Life
returns to our culinary playground to show us how easy it is to help fight the good fight. On Thursday, April 29, 100 participating restaurants, bars, coffee houses and nightclubs in San Diego will donate a minimum of 25 percent of their sales that day to The Center’s HIV/AIDS services and prevention programs. Having grown by 18 more restaurants since last year’s stunningly successful
event, DOFL and 22 of San Diego neighborhoods raised $105,000. To help reach the organization’s goal of raising $125,000 or more, all you have to do is make plans now to dine out for breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee and/or cocktails and fight AIDS on Thursday, April 29. Grab your family, friends, classmates, neighbors and co-workers and make plans to dine out for breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, cocktails and more on Thursday, April 29. Make an additional donation of $25 or more on Thursday, April 29 and become
a member of the fabulous “20% Off Tuesdays Club,” exclusively for supporters of The Center’s Dining Out for Life San Diego. Members will receive 20 percent off their table’s food bill on Tuesday evenings throughout the year from July 1, 2010 through May 31, 2011. “20% Off Tuesday Club” locations as of now include Banana Leaf, Bangkok Thai
Bistro, Bombay Exotic Cuisine of India, Busalacchi’s, Gulf Coast Grill, Horton’s Bar & Grill, Masala Spices of India, Moonsoon, Pizza Fusion, Soltan Banoo Restaurant, Spread, Terra Restaurant, The Merk Restaurant and URBN Coal Fired Pizza. Even if you’d rather stay home during the event, you can still make a safe and
secure donation online by clicking on the website’s donation link, or going directly to diningoutforlife.com/sandiego/donations. How else can you get involved? Serve as one of the event’s honorable Restau-
rant Ambassadors. Your job will be to get as many of your friends, co-workers, family, classmates and neighbors to dine at your assigned restaurant on Thurs- day, April 29, 2010, thereby packing your location and maximizing their donation to The Center. You will be making an even bigger difference in the effort to end HIV/AIDS in our community! Among the other opportunities to help out are:
STREET TEAM—Get the word out about Dining Out for Life in your neighbor- hood. Members of Street Team go to businesses and other public places, hang- ing posters and handing out dining guides. The more people who learn about it, the more people who dine out and join our community—and the more money can be allocated to the cause.
PHONE TEAM—Get in touch with restaurants and help build a great list in our dining guide! Scripts will be provided as well as all the information you’ll need. Just call restaurants to encourage them to sign up.
MATERIALS TEAM—Stuff, label, count, seal, bag and bind to get materials and letters together for restaurants and volunteers.
DISTRIBUTION TEAM—Deliver dining guides and posters to participating restaurants and other supporters in your neighborhood.
DATA TEAM—After the Dining Out for Life event, help with data entry will be sorely needed. If you’re comfortable on a computer and detail-oriented, you’re perfect.
