Beauties!

W

The Orbit glamour girlies decided to investigate the benefits of eating and using chocolate for our well being and beauty. We suggested to Adam that we try all the wonderful, gooey, chocolaty spa treatments on offer but oddly enough, the answer was a resounding no! The budget just doesn’t seem to cover the luxuries listed below so we had to settle for a few Crunchies and a Milky way…..therefore, we leave it to you, our trusted readers to go and sample the delights on offer and indulge in pure chocoholic delight!

omen in Paris are being given the chance to ‘dive into chocolate’ to make themselves gorgeous. What a shame! Beauty treatments include a Chocolate and Cranberry Body Scrub, a Toffee Chocolate Wrap and a Deep Chocolate Massage mmmm. Therapists at the Four Seasons Hotel George V spa, say cocoa has anti-ageing properties and that the treatments are designed to be ‘anti diet’ .”You know you’re going to do yourself good and you won’t have any regrets afterwards,” said manager Isabelle Schlumberger. “On the contrary you feel good in every sense, all the senses have been satisfied. It’s such a rejection of the idea of dieting, to dive into chocolate.” We love that theory.

Experience the luxury of a chocolate body wrap - the ultimate beauty treatment

A chocolate body wrap is a chocolate lover’s dream with well over an hour of pure bliss!

This luxurious skin conditioning beauty treatment features the ultra- hydrating properties of pure cocoa butter with the exfoliating qualities of natural sugars. Whilst the body wrap warms and conditions your skin, enjoy a hydrating chocolate face masque and relaxing head massage. A luxurious hot towel to cleanse and a body massage with warm cocoa butter follows, leaving your spirit soothed and your skin smooth and smelling yummy. We all know that 60% of what you put on your skin gets absorbed into it – but who knew chocolate was so good for you? Well, the Mayans and Aztecs did as they learned very early on the hydrating and healing properties of cocoa butter and this balm became a staple remedy for healing chapped skin and easing sunburn. More recently, a study found cocoa powder had anti-oxidant activity somewhat greater than that of red wine, whose mildly protective effects against heart disease are well known.

Eggs do double duty this Easter as ingredients in homemade beauty treatments.

If you really think about it, the whole bunny-that-leaves-eggs-and- chocolate thing its even weirder than the fat-man-who-leaves-presents idea (though not stranger than fairy-who-takes-old-teeth). But as you’re surveying your Easter basket and the results of your egg hunt —or, okay, your kids’ baskets and loot—use those goodies for all-

Chocolate Facial Mask

This creamy mask is an excellent moisturizer, leaving your skin baby soft. It’s recommended for normal skin.

Mix all ingredients together (a bullet blender is ideal) and smooth onto face. Relax for ten 10 minutes, then wash off with warm water.

Dry Hair mask

A mask for dry hair: mix avocado, raw egg, and wheat germ oil for a high-protein, frizz tamer.

Eye brightener

Target eyes by separating out the egg white, whipping it lightly, and applying it under your lower lashes for short-term wrinkle fighting.

Skin firmer

Looking to firm up skin? A combination of egg, honey, and olive oil softens skin and tightens pores.

Chocolate Honey Body Scrub

Ingredients * 2 cups honey

* 1/2 cup grapeseed oil * 6 Tablespoons unsweetened chocolate, grated or cocoa powder * 2 cups salt Directions:

In a mixing bowl combine honey and grapeseed oil. Stir in chocolate and salt, mixing completely - consistency should be thick and grainy. Apply scrub to skin and gently massage. Rinse in shower.

Chocolate Lip Gloss

This lip gloss, made from blending together cocoa butter and chocolate, is an excellent lip conditioner with a mildly sweet taste.

1 1/2 teaspoons grated cocoa butter 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil

1/4 teaspoon grated chocolate or 3 small chocolate chips (milk or dark, depending on your taste)

It’s not easy being green!

T

But fashion house H&M can

help….

No we’re not taking a trip up memory lane with the long legged frog that is Kermit. Instead, inspired by St.Patricks day, we thought we would investigate some greener fashion options in both senses of the word!

he colour green is a big trend this spring and there is a green for every complexion. The very ‘in’ colour has 40 different shades, from pale pastel to deep emerald, to military olives. Green is obviously the colour of nature and is the most predominant colour on the planet. It represents harmony and purity and has a calming effect on the body. But the most recent, exciting thing about being green, is that now we can actually save the environment when we buy it! H & M has launched their Garden collection, which is made with environmentally adapted materials, like recycled polyester, organic cotton and organic linen and in their words, ‘by choosing these garments you are contributing to a more sustainable world’. So what better excuse do you need to go clothes shopping? The H&M press release described their new collection as follows,

‘Romantic, exotic, glamorous or abstract: this spring’s floral patterns provide an injection of creativity and a love of fashion into your wardrobe. The floral looks are inspired by chlorophyll- green gardens, sundrenched landscapes and even 70s hippie chic flower-power. The romantic garden collection is made using organic and recycled materials. All the garments have been produced using sustainable materials or using recycled PET bottles or textile waste.’This spring’s bright and flowery fashions can update and rejuvenate your wardrobe and offer a modern, sustainable look whatever your personal style. The collection includes a feminine chiffon dress made from recycled polyester with a colourful garden print, a pinafore dress in organic cotton with romantic roses and a smock dress in organic cotton with an ethnic floral pattern. An organic cotton top in a small floral design or a frilly chiffon top made from recycled polyester can be combined with cropped trousers or shorts in organic cotton and/or linen. A beige anorak can be worn over a floral jumpsuit, both of which come in tencel.’

Sustainable materials

• Organic cotton is cotton that has been grown without the use of hazardous chemicals.

• Organic linen is linen that has been grown without the use of hazardous chemicals.

• Recycled polyester is polyester made from PET-bottles or textile waste.

• Tencel is silky, renewable material produced with minimal environmental impact.

I for one wasn’t too sure about the suggestion of a beige anorak

but was pleasantly surprised when I visited the website www. hmthegardencollection.com. The new collection is adorable and feels like a breath of fresh air, they have certainly captured the essence of fresh cut grass and rose petal perfume. The new designs offer relaxed chic with bohemian qualities whilst also offering a colourful twist to the idea of recycling. The whole range is priced between 10 and 50 Euros; meaning that there is something for everyones budget, from evening wear to accessories and shoes. So if you want to do your bit for the environment, there is no better time, for guilt free, glamorous, green shop.
