QANTAS TOURIST BOARD TIE-UP Tourism New Zealand and Qantas have sealed a new marketing partnership worth £1.95 million over two years, aimed at boosting visitor arrivals into New Zealand on Qantas flights. The partnership will focus on marketing in New Zealand’s key tourism markets. Each party will invest around £480,000 per year for two years.


NAIROBI LOSES VIRGIN SUPPORT Virgin Atlantic is to withdraw operations between London and Nairobi on September 23. The airline blamed increasing costs and a challenging economic environment in both Kenya and Europe during the past five years. Virgin Atlantic president Richard Branson said he was “extremely sad” at the decision and said “higher taxes and a poorly timed slot not providing connections from London” had made it “uneconomical”.
