in 2015. T e prestigious list, compiled by Fortune maga-

zine, ranks the top publicly traded companies in the U.S. based on gross revenue. T is year’s ranking included newcomers


WestRock and Markel. Virginia-based WestRock is the result of a merger between Georgia-based Rock- Tenn and Richmond-based MeadWestvaco that was completed last year. Markel (No. 476) is a Glen Allen-based specialty and small business insurer. Two companies previously on the list also made


comebacks, Richmond-based foodservice distribu- tor Performance Food Group and Reston-based homebuilding and mortgage company NVR. T e companies were last on the list in 2007 and 2008, respectively. Freddie Mac remained the top Virginia-based company on the list at No. 43. Dollar Tree jumped 150 spots to No. 180. T e Chesapeake-based com- pany bought Family Dollar last year for $9.1 billion.
