Wet N Joy

World class waterpark arrives in India

Billed as India’s largest waterpark, Wet N Joy celebrated its grand opening on March 18, when over 2,000 people were entertained for the evening. The park is located in Lonavala, a lush hill station in the state of Maharashtra and owned by the Malpani Group, a development group operating across multiple sectors including education, health, finance, hospitality, tourism and entertainment. The park’s slides, play structure, wave river and wave pool are all supplied by WhiteWater, whose

local representative Pradeep Sharma is a well-known figure in the Indian amusement industry. Wet N Joy Waterpark introduces many firsts to the

rcountry, including India’s first Master Blaster waterslide coaster and the nation’s largest wave pool, spanning 60,000 sq ft (5,574 sq m). In the middle of the dual pool is an entertainment stage surrounded by over 12,000 sq ft (1,115 sq m) of beach space, making the pool area a great place to host corporate events and parties. Other WhiteWater attractions include a Wave River and Extreme River, multiple waterslides such as the Rattler and Boomerango and a tiki- themed AquaPlay RainFortress which covers 10,000 sq ft (929 sq m) of interactive fun. The park also includes a cashless system using RFID wristbands that can be loaded with credit and used to pay for lockers, merchandise or food and beverages. With four full restaurants and four concession stands around the park, there are a variety of options to satisfy everyone in the family.

Hold tight or just Lego?

Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry has opened a temporary exhibit that features a Lego replica of the American Eagle wooden coaster from nearby Six Flags Great America. This 7,000-square-foot (650 sq m) display, titled Brick by Brick, also include toy brick replicas of engineering marvels including the Golden Gate Bridge, International Space Station, St Louis Gateway Arch, Hoover Dam and Rome’s Coliseum. The models were constructed by Lego-certified professional and Chicago native, Adam Reed Tucker. Perhaps just as well it’s not a real rollercoaster though; it might be a bumpy ride!

Coney Island Cyclone refurbished

The iconic Coney Island Cyclone has been refurbished and painted by Baynum Painting. Now operated by Central Amusement International, the Zamperla-backed organisation that manages Luna Park at Coney Island, the wooden coaster first opened at the famous New York amusement park in 1927. Also new for 2016, visitors will be able to

enjoy a replacement Endeavour ride from Zamperla. Accomodating twice as many passengers as the model that debuted last summer (and has since been sold), the Enterprise-style ride provides a sensation of flying 60ft (18m) through the air at 25 mph (40 kph).

The new season started a Coney Island on Good Friday, March 25.
